About this site

This is a shared site supervised by Eden Reforestation Projects. Mozambique has experienced large-scale deforestation in recent decades as a result of urban expansion, as well as growing timber exports. We are devoted to restoring the loss of mangroves in Mozambique through a local Maputo Bay Reforestation Initiative. The vision is to revive the vitality of the forests that fringe the rivers and coastline of Maputo Bay by implementing erosion control mechanisms and riparian restoration. These planting projects help protect coastal communities from environmental disasters and to support fisheries. Mangroves stabilize the soil against erosion and simultaneously improve the health of coral reefs. This project addresses the urgent need of poverty alleviation by integrating local workers into the reforestation project.
