About this site

Instituto Terra is a NGO focused on ecosystem restoration of Brazilian rainforest, environmental education and sustainable rural development. Located in Aimorés (Minas Gerais - Brazil), the Institute was founded by the couple Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado and Sebastião Salgado in April 1998. Since then, it has been working on the environmental restoration of the PRNH Fazenda Bulcão, an area of 609 hectares that embraces a young and alive forest, and also on the Rio Doce Valley region. More than an active agent in Brazil, Instituto Terra is an example and an inspiration for the entire planet.
