Protecting Madagascar’s largest remaining rainforest

Makira Natural Park is home to Madagascar’s largest remaining intact humid rainforest. Seventeen types of Lemur are found here!

But the area is under threat from deforestation and unsustainable resource extraction.

In Makira Natural Park, Trillion Trees’ partner the Wildlife Conservation Society is working to restore the rainforest and reconnect forest corridors.

The community-based forest management project supports native seed collection, locally-run tree nurseries, and community tree planting events.

Since 2009, the project has restored over 1000 ha of degraded forest, planting over half a million trees.

Trillion Trees uses Restor to bring visibility to, and monitor their work.
